APPLICATION & REGISTRATION FEE

The terms of ASB fee policy are non-negotiable and may be updated from time to time. It’s the parent’s responsibility to read the policy document carefully and adhere to the policy currently in place.

  • Application Fee: BHD 75/- per student
  • Registration Fee: BHD 200/- per student, due upon accepting the school’s offer of a space

Note: Registration and application fees are not refundable

TUITION FEE INSTALLMENTS

Tuition fee is payable in two equal installments. Full tuition fee for the term is due before the start of each term.

  • Term 1: Sept to Jan (5 Months) – Tuition for Term 1 = 50% of annual tuition. Tuition for term 1 must be paid in August and latest by 31 August of each year.
  • Term 2: Feb to June (5 Months) – Tuition for Term 2 = 50% of annual tuition. Tuition for term 2 must be paid in January and latest before 31 January of each year.

‘Fee per month’ for above-described purposes will be calculated by dividing annual tuition fee by 10 months.

Month: 1 or more days attendance during a month will be considered as a full month.

The school reserves the right to charge a late fee penalty if fees are not paid before the due dates.

ASB understands that some parents may not be able to pay the tuition fee in two terms. ASB offers an installment option to parents who can demonstrate their inability to pay the full-term fee. Interested parents must complete a request form and submit it to the Finance Department either by e-mail ( ac******@as*.bh ) or in-person. Installment option requests are subject to approval by ASB’s management and will be agreed to on a case-by-case basis. If approved, the installment option shall only be effective for the current academic year. Depending upon their financial circumstances, parents should re-apply for an installment option in subsequent academic years.

DEFERRAL POLICY

If a parent declines the offer of admission and wishes to be reconsidered at a later stage, the following policy applies:

-Application and registration fees paid initially are non-transferable and non-refundable.
-When the parent reapplies for admission at a later stage, the parent must pay the admission and registration fees again.
-Reconsideration will depend on available spaces when the parent reapplies.

EXCLUSIONS FROM TUITION FEE

Tuition fees do not include transportation, field trips, cafeteria, IB exam fees or any board exam fees, graduation fee, uniform fees, stationery, or workbooks.

SIBLING DISCOUNTS

Families with more than two children attending ASB can enjoy further savings of 10% for the third child and 15% for fourth and subsequent children.

RESERVATION DEPOSIT

The school requires 10% of the total fee amount to be paid within ten (10) days of the issuing the acceptance letter, in order to secure a space for your child. The balance fee is payable before the students first day of school.

The deposit fee will be deducted from the annual tuition fee. This amount is non-refundable unless the family has to move outside Bahrain before the start of the academic year.

If a student is joining at the beginning of the term the full tuition fee for the term must be paid instead of a deposit.

If a student is joining during the term a pro-rated tuition fee for the balance of the term must be paid instead of a deposit. One or more days attendance during a month will be considered as a full month for the purpose of calculating pro-rated fees.

RE-ENROLLMENT DEPOSIT

A re-enrollment deposit will be required in term 2 to reserve a place for the next academic year. The school will advise parents of the percentage, due dates, and conditions of refund.

REFUND OF FEES

Requests for refunds must be made in writing by submitting a completed ‘Refund Request Form’ to the admissions office. The admissions office will obtain internal clearance before forwarding the form to the accounts department. To avoid delays with refund processing, please ensure that all books and equipment issued to the student are returned to school prior to submitting the refund request.

The school will aim to process all refunds within one month after the receipt of the ‘Refund Request Form’ and supporting documents.

If fees are received directly by the parents’ employers, difference in fee or refunds if any will only be returned to the employers’ account. ASB will not facilitate excess invoicing and cashing of fee difference and refunds by parents.

Parents will be responsible for any bank transfer charges associated with the processing of a refund application.

If a student leaves the school during the academic year, tuition fee will be charged to student as follows:

  • If a student attended school for two weeks or less during the term, a month’s fee would be charged to student.
  • If a student attends school for a period ranging between two weeks and one month during the term, two months’ fee would be charged to student.
  • If a student attends school for a period ranging between one and two months during the term, 3 months’ fee would be charged to student
  • If a student attends for 2-3 months, 4 months fee is charged and if more than 3 months then full term fee is charged.

Note: ‘Fee per month’ for above-described purposes will be calculated by dividing annual tuition fee by 10 months.

NON PAYMENT OF FEES

In the event of the non-payment of school fees by the due date, the school reserves the right to right to charge a late fee surcharge of BD 50. Additionally, the School reserves the right to restrict the student and other siblings of the family from receiving additional curriculum support. This includes the right to remove the student from the enrolment register and withhold progress reports, examination results and a leaving certificate. The school at its discretion also has the right to remove persistent late payers from the enrolment register and cancel places allocated to siblings.

Misplacement and non-receipt of invoice are not valid reasons for non-payment of fees by the due date. If an invoice is not received within the due date, the parent should contact the accounts office to request for an invoice.

The school reserves the right to send emails and written reminders, make phone calls and send SMS messages to parents who have defaulted on payment of fees.

ADMISSION POLICIES

Admissions decisions are guided by the school’s mission, philosophy, and beliefs, particularly the central aim of developing students who are “caring individuals, critical thinkers, and responsible world citizens.”

American School of Bahrain will consider applicants on the basis of their ability to succeed in the school’s programs and to actively contribute to the quality of school life. In all decisions a student’s social, emotional, and educational needs and potential are at the center of the admissions assessment process.

Admissions decisions follow clearly established procedures involving staff members in admissions, school leaders, counselors, and teacher specialists. In the review process the Director’s decision is final regarding all applications for admissions.

ASB admits students of any race, color, nationality or ethnic background and extends the same to all the rights, privileges, and opportunities to all students at the school. The enrollment or re-enrollment of students requiring English Language (EL) support and learning support services may be limited according to program and staffing policies as defined academic requirements.
