Naseem International School is extremely proud to be in a position to offer our students the best international education available through the delivery of the PYP, MYP, and a choice of the NIS Diploma, IBDP, the IBCP, BTEC Business and BTEC Art and Design as of academic year 2019/2020. It is an absolute pleasure to bear witness to our school and its community’s growth over this past number of years and it is with the utmost confidence that I acknowledge that we have achieved the almost un-achievable!!! As a school, we aim to reach new heights through our endeavors, despite the numerous contentions we may encounter in the future. I strongly believe that “GROWTH HAPPENS WHEN THERE IS CHALLENGE.” I also have a strong belief in the ultimate potential of our parents, faculty, staff and student body to live up to our NIS vision of inspiring lifelong learners and global citizens.

Head Of Academics - Student Achievement & Growth
My pursuit is to insure that all learning and teaching strategies in the school are directed to achieve our school vision “inspiring lifelong learners and global citizens”.
This can be accomplished by supporting all elements of learning, including an excellent physical environment of classrooms and all other teaching and learning areas. By continually developing the curriculum, training the teachers, analyzing the students’ performance and reacting positively to the feedback from students and parents, we can further achieve our vision.
My task is to be sure that our educational program “enables students to fulfill their potential in all areas of growth intellectually, physically, emotionally, spiritually and socially and empowers them to become the people they can and want to be” as mentioned in our school mission statement.
My heart and my mind are open to any suggestions, innovative ideas and constructive comments which would help in implementing our mission and vision.
I wish for all of our dear students and parents to have a successful academic year.

NIS - Kindergarten
Welcome to the 2022 – 2023 school year. I am particularly excited about this year and all the adventures that it will take us on. I am privileged to welcome you and serve you in my new role as the Kindergarten Principal and additionally continue as the Assistant Elementary School Principal. I am looking forward to continuing my work with our NIS Leadership Teams, our staff, and students. By working together, I am confident that we will continue to provide our students with truly rigorous and enriching school experiences.
Many exciting experiences and opportunities lie ahead of us. We welcome new members to our teaching teams and students in our classrooms. We are excited to further explore a play-based approach with our younger students and to prepare them for the 21st Century through STEAM-based activities. In addition, we will also create opportunities for our students to develop a belief in themselves and a sense of identity through student agency.
We will ask of our students to take initiative and ownership of their learning, to express and explore their own interests, to make choices, voice their opinions, monitor and adjust their learning while being aware of their learning goals. This is indeed a team effort and requires input from all stakeholders; the school, students, and parents.
Naseem International School is a special and unique community of which I am proud to be a part of. I look forward to every opportunity that this year might bring to my door.

Academics - Kindergarten
Kindergarten students at Naseem International School benefit from a stimulating, engaging and challenging environment. We believe in using the powerful tool of inquiry to teach our young students about the world around them. Our curriculum, both in English and Arabic is balanced through play-based learning, teacher-directed guidance and the provision of carefully planned learning experiences. This curriculum follows the IBPYP framework and Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and is staffed by qualified teachers who understand how to best support early childhood development.
We believe that the early childhood learning period is considered the most important developmental phase and it is our aim to provide the best possible learning experience to every individual in the Kindergarten. Children are encouraged to take lead in their learning as well as to collaborate with others. We view each child as competent and able individuals who are capable of learning, developing and understanding through a supportive and enabling environment.
Young children learn and develop at different rates and in different ways. We nurture each child’s natural curiosity and acknowledge differences in developmental stages. Aside from language immersion in English and Arabic, our students from Nursery, KG1 and KG2 experience different learning opportunities through specialist subjects such as Art, Music, PE, Movement and Gymnastics, Library and IT. Our newly built STEAM Makerspace provides opportunities for rich, hands-on and practical activities which nurture creative thinking, teamwork and innovation. Through the STEAM programme, we are enabling our young learners with the essential 21st-century skills, knowledge and attitudes.
At the heart of the Kindergarten is the understanding of the uniqueness of each child and the provision of a learning experience that would enable each child to develop holistically. Our Kindergarten celebrates the talents of each individual.
NIS - Elementary School
The Elementary School of NIS serves students from Grade 1 to Grade 5. We provide a warm and caring atmosphere where each student is supported in reaching his or her full potential. Our students receive instruction to think creatively, reason critically and communicate effectively. In other words, we place a big emphasis on developing 21st Century Skills. We recognize that not all students learn in the same way and structure our program’s instruction strategies to meet the varying needs of each child. We offer an international skills-based program supported by a professional and well-trained faculty.
The curriculum framework of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IB PYP), has been designed specifically for International Schools and leads into the IB Middle Years (IBMYP), Diploma Program (IBDP) and the Career-Related Program (IBCP). Educating the whole child is central to the IB Primary Years Program as well as our school mission. As we are a dual-language school, Elementary students spend most of their day with two teachers (English speaking and Arabic speaking) who teach the academic core of language arts, mathematics, social studies, science and religion.
Students can explore varying interests and develop skills in academic, artistic and athletic fields. We have specialists in music/drama, art, physical education, gymnastics, design and technology sciences as well as IT to support our core curriculum. Regular class level performances introduce students to personal communication skills and provide all students with the opportunity to perform for our school community. Our Student Services Team (counsellor, student supervisor, ASL teacher) collaborate with classroom teachers to meet the needs of all students.
Regular communication like the weekly ES Bulletin and posts on social media, keep parents informed of our events, curriculum and class programme information. We have also introduced PowerSchool as a communication platform. As a Google for Education school, all our students are provided with a school email address and Google Classroom is used throughout Kindergarten and Elementary School not only as a means of communication but also as a means to guide our learning and teaching process.
Technology has always played a central role in our education as we do believe in preparing our students for the future – the current pandemic has underlined that importance. As a result, we expanded the requirements of using Chromebooks, managed by the school, which now includes all the ES grade sections from Gr 1 to Grade 5.
Parents are welcomed at NIS and we encourage open communication to foster an ongoing partnership with all parents.
Ms Adele Du Plessis
Elementary School Principal
Academics - Elementary School
The Elementary School provides a learning environment in which all the students can be happy, challenged and safe. We want to give all the students the confidence and enthusiasm to become life-long learners with an appreciation of, and respect for others.
Each class of no more than 24 students, is of mixed ability and an effort is made to achieve a balance in terms of gender and nationality. The classrooms, which are large and fully resourced, have computers and interactive whiteboards that are used in all areas of the curriculum.
NIS’s Elementary School serves students ages 3-11 in Nursery through to Grade 5. We provide a warm and caring atmosphere where each student is assisted in reaching his or her full potential. Our students receive instruction to think creatively, reason critically and communicate effectively. We recognize that not all students learn in the same way and structure our programs and instruction to meet the varying needs of each child. We offer an international skills-based and inquiry-based programme supported by a professional and well-trained faculty.

We became the first Google for Education Reference School in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Since September 2017, all subjects taught from Grade 3 upwards make use of the Google Classroom applications while using their Chromebook digital device. This is part of our ‘Go Green’ programme to be a paperless institute of learning.
The campus facility was built for Kindergarten and Elementary students. Grade level classrooms are located together so that students and teachers may work closely together. The school auditorium provides a wonderful venue for musical performances, plays and assemblies. Our physical education facilities include an indoor gym, basketball and volleyball courts, and two designated ES playgrounds. We are equipped with a computer lab and a comprehensive library. A full service cafeteria provides an early and mid morning snack for all students.
Parents are welcome at NIS and we encourage an ongoing partnership with parents.

International School. I am excited to join this extraordinary school community and especially thrilled to be back to pre-pandemic normal school conditions.
This academic year 2022-2023 will mark my 22nd year in education. Great leadership usually starts with a willing heart A position of leadership requires one to possess a forward-looking vision, be prepared to contribute to dynamic change, lead effective action, support pragmatic expectations, exemplify admirable coaching and offer uplifting recognition to those who contribute to the overall benefit of the institution.
This year, as a school, we live up to the expectation that Naseem International School inspires lifelong learners and global citizens. This is only attained through the effective coordination of all our resources within a team of highly qualified educators. Our role involves setting realistic, attainable goals that express our schools mission while supporting our team of educators in an effective manner so as to ensure a collective energy of cooperation and a collective sense of responsibility.
By raising expectations, we aim to instill critical thinking and problem-solving skills that would ensure resolution in the face of encountered challenges and even obstacles. Our duty includes leading the quest for focused timely actions, guided by a shared vision, which precedes the path to successful accomplishments. And finally we, as the leadership, should propagate the recognition of all contributions to the shared vision and mission of our outstanding educational institution.
