1. Secondary Science Teacher
Capital School is looking to appoint a Secondary Science Teacher to start in August 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
The Secondary Science Teacher is accountable to the Head of Science for delivering high-quality science education that inspires student engagement and achievement. The teacher works closely with the science department and the wider teaching team to ensure the effective implementation of the science curriculum. The successful candidate will have the following attributes:
- Plan, deliver, and assess engaging and differentiated science lessons that cater to the diverse abilities and needs of students across Key Stage 3 and 4.
- Maintain high academic standards and ensure that all students are supported in achieving their full potential.
- Incorporate a variety of teaching methods and resources, including digital tools, to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Foster a classroom environment that encourages scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and hands-on experimentation.
- Actively encourage and support students in becoming independent learners who take ownership of their educational journey.
- Contribute to the ongoing review and development of the science curriculum to ensure that it remains relevant, challenging, and inspiring for all students.
- Work closely with the Head of Science and other science teachers to ensure consistency and progression within the science department.
- Assist in the integration of technology into the science curriculum, particularly as the school transitions to becoming a Microsoft Showcase School.
- Regularly assess student progress through formal and informal methods, providing constructive and timely feedback.
- Set clear academic and behavioral expectations, monitoring student progress and intervening where necessary to support individual achievement.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and the Head of Science.
- Support the school’s pastoral system by fostering positive relationships with students, contributing to their overall development.
- Actively promote the values of respect, responsibility, and resilience within the classroom.
- Contribute to the wider school community by participating in extracurricular activities, science-related events, and school trips.
- Stay informed about current developments in science education and pedagogy, incorporating new ideas and strategies into teaching practice.
- Participate in relevant professional development opportunities and collaborate with colleagues to enhance the quality of teaching across the school.
- Act in accordance with the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring that the safety and wellbeing of students is prioritized at all times.
- Assist with the administration of external examinations related to science, including preparation and supervision.
- Contribute to the school’s mission by taking on additional responsibilities as required by the Head of Science or Senior Leadership Team.
Person specification:
We are looking for a reflective practitioner who:
- Experienced in teaching science at secondary school level, with a strong understanding of scientific concepts, theories, and practices.
- A degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics).
- A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS).
- Previous teaching experience in secondary education, particularly in science (preferred).
- Able to set high expectations for student achievement and behavior, while providing appropriate support to enable all learners to succeed.

2. Administrative Assistant Required
Capital School is seeking a professional Administrative Assistant to join the team and support the school’s operations through effective coordination, communication, and administrative management. The role will act as a key liaison between the school leadership, staff, parents, and external stakeholders, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and supporting school-wide initiatives.
Professional Roles and Responsibilities:
- Organising and maintaining administrative systems, processes, and records.
- Managing communication between school leadership, staff, and parents.
- Supporting the coordination of school events, meetings, and appointments.
- Preparing reports, presentations, and other documents as required.
- Assisting with the implementation of school policies and procedures.
- Handling inquiries and requests efficiently and professionally.
- Managing office supplies, procurement, and basic budgeting tasks.
- Supporting the admissions and enrollment process with administrative tasks.
- Liaising with external vendors, service providers, and school partners.
- Assisting in the preparation and distribution of internal and external communication.
- Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all matters.
Suitable Applicants Must Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Office Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an administrative or secretarial role, preferably within an educational environment or similar sector.
