About The Center : An Introduction

Autism Spectrum Disorders affect as many as 1 out of every 68 people, and can present unique challenges for parents and children alike. REACH Behavior and Development Center specializes in partnering with families to develop the skills and strategies that enable their children to be happy and independent.

We offer a wide range of direct and consultative services for people with developmental disabilities and their families. Our comprehensive programs strive to foster your child’s independence in areas including communication, social skills, behavior, cognitive functioning and life skills.

REACH specializes in providing comprehensive programs to enhance your child’s independence. By combining highly-trained behavior technicians, transparent data collection, and developmentally appropriate programming, we will create a program you can trust— with results that are evident.

REACH works with schools and families to serve children of all ages. We see children with a range of learning needs, including Autism, ADHD, developmental delays, and more.

REACH Behavior & Development Center is now the only center in Bahrain to become a Behavioral Center of Excellence!

REACH being BHCOE Accredited means that you and your family are receiving the very best services, care, and treatment planning. It means that we understand each child and each family is unique, and that there is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ treatment plan for ASD or behavioral difficulties.

It also means that REACH has been recognized for our services, organization, and high standards. You might already know our values, services, and standards, but with our BHCOE Accreditation, we can share our knowledge and experience with our community at large. We want to educate, to assist, and to serve our community, and our BHCOE Accreditation will greatly aid us in reaching out to every child, every family, and every individual looking for information or treatment.

We are excited to now be a Center of Excellence and BHCOE Accredited, but we are even more excited to serve you. We want to empower children and families to move mountains, and we do that through ABA, Speech and Occupational Therapy.

OUR SERVICES - ABA Therapy

REACH Behavioral Therapists provide direct therapy which is guided by Individual treatment programs. These are developed by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), based on a variety of student assessment results (e.g., VB-MAPP, FBA), direct observations, and input/feedback from parents, school and/or therapists. Additionally, ABA therapists will work with parents, family members, or school staff on the implementation of ABA strategies to facilitate the generalization of skills and to maximize the student’s opportunities for learning.

Our team of therapists will work hand in hand with the child on decreasing behavioral excesses such as maladaptive or stereotypic behaviors, as well as increasing skill deficits across all domains including:

Speech and Functional Communication.
Pre-academic and Academic Skills.
Daily Living Skills.
Social Skills and Play Skills.
Self-Regulation.
Fine and Gross Motors Skills.

OUR SERVICES - Occupational Therapy

Our highly trained Occupational Therapist assesses the child’s baseline functioning in visual-motor integration, visual perception, cognition, fine motor skills, and sensory processing. Our therapist works together with the families to develop successful progressive strategies to help enhance their skills and promote independence.

Occupational Therapy includes:

Handwriting Assessment and Intervention
Sensory Processing Disorder Assessment and intervention
Life Skills/Self Care assessment and intervention including dressing, feeding, toileting, brushing teeth, folding clothes, wearing shoes, etc.

OUR SERVICES - Speech and Language Therapy

Our Speech and Language Therapy program provides life-changing treatment for children who have difficulties with communication, eating, drinking, and swallowing.

Speech Therapy exercises and activities vary depending on your child’s disorder, age, and needs. During the therapy, the SLP may interact through talking and playing, using books, pictures, and other objects as a part of language intervention to help stimulate development. This can also include modeling correct sounds and syllables for the child during age appropriate play to teach them how to make certain sounds and provide strategies for the parents on how to support their child at home.

Our highly trained Speech Therapist works with parents to assess and treat children with speech, language, and communication impairments. The range of services includes:

Articulation Disorder
Resonance or Voice Disorders
Receptive Disorder
Expressive Disorder
Cognitive-Communication Disorders
Dysphagia/Oral Feeding Disorders

OUR SERVICES - Behavioral Programming

The behavior reduction program is designed for children who may or may not have a diagnosis but who engage in disruptive behavior in the home, school or community settings. This program focuses on teaching parents, teachers and other caregivers how to effectively decrease a child’s disruptive behavior and increase compliance and other appropriate behaviors.

OUR SERVICES - Adaptive & Social Skills

The focus of the social skills training program is to increase the child’s overall ability to:

Recognize and interpret verbal and non-verbal communication
Develop appropriate peer relationships
Increase their ability to recognize the emotions of others
Assist individuals with improvement in social interactions by expanding their interest in age appropriate topics, toys and play skills

The goal is to minimize stress and anxiety when participating in social interaction. The program strives to provide the tools necessary for the successful interpretation of social and communication skills.

OUR SERVICES - Parent, Caregiver and Shadow Training

Outside of treatment, it is important for parents and other caregivers to have the ability and techniques to reinforce the skills their child learns in therapy by incorporating them into daily routines. As with any skill, practice is critical. Parents actively involved in their child’s therapy often increase the progress made by their children. Our treatment plans include the appropriate parent participation and training to ensure they can reinforce their child’s development beyond the therapy setting. We also provide training for school shadows when needed.

School Consulting and Support

We offer consultation for individuals in their school settings and contact with schools who are seeking ABA, Speech or OT services. We provide services that address needs such as comprehensive assessments, behavioral assessments, teacher and staff training, modification of curriculum, social skills facilitation, program development and ongoing supervision.

Family & Community Support

At REACH we strive to provide a warm, supportive environment to both the children and the families we serve. It’s overwhelming to process a new diagnosis but you don’t have to do it alone. We help provide resources to those new to the diagnosis and families in need of further support.

Telehealth Consultation Support

We provide video based consultation sessions between the parent and a member of the REACH team. After a brief check in, consultation sessions will focus on coaching a family through positive interaction during an identified routine. Feedback and ways to continue daily practice will be discussed in the debrief.
